Filofax Songbird + Travel Journal Pack

After a couple of months of dithering and waffling (and adding and removing items to the filofax.co.uk shopping cart) I gave in last week and ordered a Pocket Songbird in purple and the Pocket Travel Journal Pack from Filofax UK.

I've been eyeing the travel pack for a very long time, as I covet the itinerary and journal sheets. It never seemed like a good idea to spend so much money to ship them from the UK, though. Adding on an inexpensive binder tipped the scales just far enough to make it seem worth my while.
Unexpectedly, the shipping didn't take very long at all, even coming all the way out here to Seattle, about 4 business days. I placed an order with Filofax US on the same day as the one I placed with Filo UK and they arrived on the same day. Of course, Filo US waited about 3 days to ship my order, long enough to be mildly annoying. Luckily, all I was getting from them were my 2012 refills and some notepaper -- nothing I couldn't live without.

Anyway, on to my new travelfax:

I'm planning a couple of trips right now, some where I'm headed elsewhere but also one where I have people coming to visit me. The travelfax is mostly reserved for our upcoming "honeymoon" (we got married over a year ago) to Korea this fall, which I've been planning for months. Mr. Stirwise is not big on the organizational stuff, and as you can see I am, so this trip has been my baby from the get-go. While most of the sheets in the Travel Pack won't do much for me before the trip, they will be wonderful for documenting and staying on schedule while we're away.
I have also taken a few choice sheets out of the Songbird and put them in my full-time Filo, the Pocket Malden, for planning my smaller trips. If I could just get Filofax to sell the itinerary, budget and travel planner sheets separately, I would be in heaven! As it is, I may have to come up with some way to print my own, the handful that come in the pack will not be sufficient for the long haul. Perhaps I should have bought two . . .

The Songbird itself is a lovely little organizer. It's made of sturdy canvas with a bright and cheerful pattern. My only gripe so far is that it doesn't even come close to laying flat. However, the solid backing will be handy for writing notes without a hard surface. I'm also grateful for the elastic pen loop: finally a loop I can fit my Coleto 5 in! The pink does not go well with the purple binder, though, so perhaps a dedicated travelfax Coleto 5 is in order. I'm thinking white would complement the design best. :)

  3. @Jotje: Last time I looked I couldn't find what I wanted, especially not in pocket size. Maybe more have been added since then. I'll have to take another look.

  5. Hi Sharon - the pen came from jetpens.com. It's a Pilot Coleto 5 multipen.

  7. Love the Songbird in purple. I have seen the travel sheets sold separately (well in packs of 10 but without all the other pages) in the Filofax Store in London. I know that is not much use if you need them shipping (but you could phone the store and ask if they would be willing to ship for you).

  8. @Cacti:
Which travel sheets did you find in the UK? I couldn't find anything but the full-fledged travel pack on any of the Filofax UK website.

  9. @Stirwise: you would need to phone either the Filofax Store at Conduit or Neal street (addresses/phone numbers on Filofax.co.uk, under retailers). Unfortunately, both stores don't have a website to order from. Very very nice and helpful people though!
